Sit

Past:

She sat on the porch.
He sat on the grass.
I was sitting here; they were sitting there.
They had sat under an umbrella.
It had been sitting there the whole time.
We sat tight during the thunderstorm.

verb phrase: sit tight = stay where you are; wait before making a change

Present:

She sits inside during bad weather.
He sits outside on the porch, napping.
I am sitting here! They are sitting where?
They have sat there without moving for an hour.
She has been sitting there in case it rains.
We sit tight if there is a thunderstorm.

Future:

She will sit in the rocking chair.
He will sit outside to watch it rain.
I will be sitting to relax; they will be sitting to talk.
They will have sat there all afternoon, just talking.
By evening, she will have been sitting there for hours.
We will sit tight until the thunderstorm has passed.
