Break

Past:

He broke a vase.
We broke the window.
He was breaking plates; they were breaking glasses.
She had broken the toilet; we had broken the heater.
I had been breaking things all over the apartment.
The landlord broke the news: it was time for us to leave.

verb phrase: break the news = reveal new information, often as a surprise

Present:

He breaks that chair, again and again.
We break the old furniture.
He is breaking glasses; they are breaking other things.
She has broken the mixer; you have broken the refrigerator.
I have been breaking coffee cups.
The landlord breaks the news: we are out of here.

Future:

I bet he will break another glass.
We will break the weak bed frame.
He will be breaking things, I just know it.
By then, she will have broken the food processor.
I will have been breaking those lamps.
The landlord will break the news: we will have less than two weeks to move out.
